About Hamilton Prosthetics & Orthotics

Hamilton Prosthetics & Orthotics in London specializes in assessments, designs and manufacturing of custom made prosthetic and orthotic devices.  Established in 1988, we serve the restorative needs of Southwestern Ontario. A family-owned and operated business, we deliver a personal touch.  We pride ourselves on quick turn around time, a quality product and excellent customer service. We fabricate all custom made devices on site in our laboratory, in doing this we are able to control the speed and the quality of our production.  Each client is a member of our family and our goal is to make them feel as comfortable as possible with our state-of-the-art products and personalized service.

 

Our certified team of prosthetists, orthotists and registered nurses are here to serve you. We are highly trained in the physical evaluation, technical fabrication and the application of advanced technology used in prosthetic and orthotic devices today. We have a background in engineering and kinesiology in order to give you the best possible fit and function.

James Cheng

C.P.O.(c), L.I.P.E.

Jim Cheng is a licentiate engineer. He has been practicing as a certified prosthetist and orthotist in Canada and Britain since the 1970s. He obtained his postgraduate degree and is an alumnus of the Hong Kong Poly University and Hong Kong Government Physiotherapy School. He also attended New York University to study prosthetics and orthotics.
 

Jim practiced prosthetics and orthotics in Toronto (1972), Winnipeg (1975), and London (1976), before opening a private practice in our present location in 1988.
 

His strengths include over 40 years of vast knowledge in Prosthetics and Orthotics fitting and fabricating many complex cases. His ability of attaining patient comfort and function by applying his engineering knowledge towards biomechanical designs and use of new materials.

Shirley Cheng

C.P.O. (c) B.Kin

Shirley Cheng is a certified prosthetist and orthotist. She has a kinesiology degree from McMaster University and is a graduate from George Brown College Clinical Prosthetic and Orthotics Program.

Shirley’s interests are in the advancement of bionic technology used in the prosthetic field. Shirley is currently involved in many myoelectric and bionic upper and lower extremity prosthetic cases. Continuing education is an ongoing goal, Shirley has taken numerous courses in bionic technology used in prosthetics and is certified to fit myoelectric elbows, bionic hands, wrists and fingers and all microprocessor knees and feet that are currently available in Canada . 

Shirley enjoys working with the pediatric community helping children excel in sports and daily activities along with specializing in pediatric orthotic bracing .

 

Shirley’s strengths are her vast practical knowledge in the fit, function and comfort of prosthetic and orthotic devices. She is approachable and friendly, always listening to your wishes and concerns.

Doris Cheng

Registered Nurse

Doris is a registered nurse in Ontario. Able to handle clinic emergencies, she ensures our clients’ comfort and well-being during visits to our office. Nursing care is provided when necessary. Doris excels in searching for funding assistance and social work.


She manages appointments in a timely manner and makes clients’ visits to our office a pleasant and memorable experience. Personalized attention is given to everyone that comes through the door.

Joseph Griffa 

Technical Operations  Manager

With a background in industrial quality and specification assurance, Joseph leads a team of technicians to design and fabricate the well-crafted prosthetic and orthotic devices we provide to our clients. His continual goal is to implement the most up to date innovative materials, technical practices and designs to provide exceptional outcomes.

 

Joseph's interests are in the advancing technology that we are seeing come to market today. He derives great satisfaction knowing that the technical team is an integral part of our patient’s success. His duties also bridge into the front office where he manages clients funding applications and new patient intake.
